He had already started an extremely successful trajectory in Paralympic sport. Daniel Dias was already in his first World Cup.
At the Durban World Cup, in South Africa, the Brazilian swimmer won 5 medals, 3 golds and two silvers.
2008
He won nine medals at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games (4 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze), becoming the athlete with the most medals in a single edition of the Games, also surpassing the Brazilian swimmer Clodoaldo Silva, who had won seven medals.
2012
London 2012 Paralympic Games won 6 medals, all gold in all individual events played!

2016
At the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, he won nine medals (4 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze) and became the biggest male medalist in swimming in the Paralympics, with 24 medals in total.
2021
At the 2020 Summer Paralympics, Daniel secured three bronzes (in the 100m freestyle in the S5 class, in the 4x50m freestyle relay mixed up to 20 points and in the 200m freestyle in the S5 class), consecrating himself as the greatest Brazilian Paralympic medalist, with 27 medals in total.

He said goodbye to the pools on the first day of September 2021, at the age of 33, finishing the S5 class 50m freestyle in fourth place, with a time of 32.12, ending his glorious career
