Perspective
What was the sources perspective on the event, e.g. a persons side in a war would be there perspective.

Primary or Secondary
A primary perspective is a source from the time of the event, a secondary source is one written after the time of an event.
Bias
People can be biased and change their information, usually due to political beliefs, religion, money (or bribery).

Impacts on Britain
Factory Labour
Due to the industrial revolution Britain shifted to a primarily industrial society, with the majority of the population working in factories.

Urbanization
Due to the shift to a industrial society the majority of the population moved to cities in search of a job.

Population increases
The population increased greatly especially in cities due to the factory labour jobs available there.

World Empire
The IR allowed quicker and easier expansion of empires through invasion of other countries. (better weapons, communication and transport)

Transport improvements
Transport had many improvements, mainly due to coal powered vehicles and water based vehicles that were commonly used for transporting goods.

Working Conditions
Mining
Miners were subject to horrible conditions in the IR, with toxic gases filling the mines and no protective gear many people died mining.
Child Labour
Reasons why it was used
Child labour was used as it was extremely cheap to use children for work, and they could be easily replaced.

Treatment of Children
Children would be forced to work in unhealthy, confined spaces and would be beaten if they refused to do work or were tired.

Opinions on it
The children were treated horribly due to the fact that they were cheap and could be easily replaced. Though without it we may not be as advanced as we are today.
Factory Labour
Factory labourers were subject to beatings if they refused to do their jobs, they would spend around 17hrs per day in factories producing goods.

Scramble for Africa
The invasion of many African countries(or claiming of land) to join an empire in the buildup to WW1. This was used so the two sides of the war would have larger military forces.

Tanks, poison gas(chlorine gas, etc), machine guns, planes, torpedoes.
