Queer
- an umbrella term for people who are not heterosexual or are not cisgender
Queer theory is known as an approach to literary and cultural study that rejects traditional categories of gender and sexuality
Queer studies is known as an academic field of study focusing on matters relating to gender, human sexuality, and sexual orientation with emphasis on LGBT issues and culture
Queer nation is known as an LGBTQ activist organization founded in March 1990 in New York City, by HIV/AIDS activists from ACT UP. In addition, the four founders were outraged at the escalation of anti-gay violence on the streets and prejudice in the arts and media.
Homosexuality
- the quality or characteristic of being sexually attracted solely to people of one's own sex.
Heterosexuality means the quality or characteristic of being sexually attracted solely to people of the opposite sex
Sexual Orientation is when a person's identity in relation to the gender or genders to which they are sexually attracted
Sexuality and gender identity is also involved with Sexual Orientation
LGBTQIA+ stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual
LGBT Social Movements is known as a political ideology and social movement that advocate for the full acceptance of LGBT people in society
Bisexuality is known as the quality or characteristic of being sexually attracted not exclusively to people of one particular gender
Gay is known as being a term that primarily refers to a homosexual person or the trait of being homosexual
Gay Community is another term for a loosely defined grouping of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and other queer individuals united by a common culture and social movements
Lesbian is known as a woman who has a romantic or sexual orientation toward women and some nonbinary people also identify with this term
Transgender is known as people whose gender identity is different from the gender they were thought to be at birth
Normativity is known as establishing, relating to, or deriving from a standard or norm, especially of behavior
Material Conditions are the aspects of a period of time that influence a person's lived experience
Racialization is the act of being “raced” or seen as someone belonging to a particular race
Indigeneity is the fact of originating or occurring naturally in a particular place
Medicalization is the process by which human conditions and problems come to be defined and treated as medical conditions, and thus become the subject of medical study, diagnosis, prevention, or treatment
Pathology is the science of the causes and effects of diseases, especially the branch of medicine that deals with the laboratory examination of samples of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic purposes
