Biography

He was born on November 13, 354 CE (IVcentury

In his early years he lived in Algeria, where he skokes Latin at home and at school

He was from wealthy family, his father was landoener

His mother wanted him to be a baptized believer

His father was a Pagan, whilst his mother was Christian

Augustine moved to Rome, later to Milan to escape rowdly students

In the IV century the Christianity was a new young theological philosophy

In Augustine's teenage ages he studyed literature in Latin and Greek, rhetoric and dialectic

At the age of 17 his son was born, his name was Adeodatus

After his studies at Carthage, he returned to Thagaste, where he became a teacher

Augustine was in a society of well-educated people, who joined the Maniches

He had a conversation with Ambrose in the garden, which influenced himself to work in the church.

After some time his mother Monica died

Confession

This book contains Augustine's biography, his life, philosophy and theology

I-IX - chapter (or book) is about Augustine's life, from his birth, yill the conversation to Catholism

While his adventure Augustine continues to wrestle with his doubts about what he has learned

In the last 4 books of Confession, Augustine focuses on religious and philosophical issues

Augustine writes that everything that created by God will return to him. Throught this book, he inspires humans actively seek this return

Book I

The first book of the Confession is dedicated to Augustine's life ( childhood) in Thagaste (eastern Algeria)

Each chapter begins with a prayer to God and in this chapter Augustine wonders how we can find God, without knowing him yet. And he says, that if we seek God, he will reviel himself

4-6. He starts to ask God "come into me". Further, he came to answer that Got is everywhere and in everything. However, God can not be in every object, but he sees everyone.

7-8. Augustine describes his childhood, how he came to this mortal life or living death. He follows Neoplatonists and refuses speculate how the soul joins the body

9-10. In this part Augustine writes that he was being and life before his birth, and the only God can combine these two thing into one in new people

Augustines last chapter ends with with a list of sins, which he did in his childhood. However, he mentions that he had much worse sins when he was adult.
