Deliberately recalling information forces us to pull our knowledge "out" and examine what we know
Retrieval practice is a strategy in which calling information to mind subsequently enhances and boosts learning
Lecturing, taking notes, re-reading, making flash cards are all ways of retrieval practice to improve learning
Why does Retrieval Practice improve learning
Opposite is true: when information comes to the mind easy and feels fluent, its easy to forget. Just because you can learn something quickly does not mean you will remember it.
Some teachers tend to overwhelm kids with information and some kids overwhelm themselves with information this only leads to short term learning
The more difficult the Retrieval practice, the better it is for long-term learning
