1) NON REM STAGE 1
-light sleep, can experience hypnagogic images(vivid visual events that become dreams but seen as light) and hypnic jerk(body jerks)
2) NON REM STAGE 2
-Body temperature drops, heart rate slows, irregular breathing, EEG show sleep spindles
3) NON REM SLEEP STAGE 3 AND 4
-Delta waves pronounced means deep sleep, growth hormones released, body is at lowest level of functioning
4) REM SLEEP
-Sleep is paradoxical sleep(high levels of brain activity), remember dreams if woken on this stage, REM Rebound: increased amounts of REM sleep after being deprived of REM sleep.
