Odysseus finishes his story and the king orders everyone to give him a tripod. when the sun sets Odysseus asks to leave for home. slaves bring stuff onto the ship. the ship embarks and Odysseus sleeps on the way home. they lay him on the shore of Ithaca with his gifts. Poseidon is angry. he turns the ship that carried Odysseus back to Ithaca into stone. odysseys wakes up and doesn't realize he's on Ithaca, but Athena takes the form of a shepherd to tell him. Athena reveals herself to Odysseus after he lies to her. They hide the treasure Odysseus got in a cave and started planning what to do about the suitors. Athena makes him look ugly and sends him to find the swineherd.

Odysseus finds the swineherd. dogs bark at Odysseus. Odysseus is invited inside by the swineherd. he is given pork. Odysseus tells the swineherd that Odysseus will return soon. swineherd asks Odysseus to tell him his story, and Odysseus makes an entire story as a lie.

Athena tells Telemachus to come back home to stop his mom from taking anything from the house. Telemachus kicks son of nestor awake and tells him to get the carriage ready. king Menelaus demands the women make a feast. Helen gives Telemachus a tunic that she made herself. Telemachus departs from Menelaus' house. eagle stole a goose. when they get there Telemachus asks not to be let off to close to nestor because he might be invited in. Theoclymenus came up to Odysseus and asks to come with him because he's on the run or killing someone. Telemachus sets sail while Odysseus is finishing dinner with the swineherd. Odysseus tests Eumaeus by telling him that he's gonna go beg and hang around the suitors. Eumaeus tells him to stay with him ands starts telling his story. his mom ran way with pirates with him. Telemachus makes it home and tells Theoclymenus to go to Polybus' house. Telemachus goes to the swineherd

The day starts and Telemachus tells the swineherd to take Odysseus to town to beg while he goes to see his mom. Telemachus makes it to his house and tells his mom that he's going into town and that we invited a stranger . Telemachus talks to his dads friends and Piraeus comes with Theoclymenus. Theoclymenus tells Penelope his prophecy. The suitors go to dinner and Odysseus starts heading down to his house for the plan. Odysseus tells the swine herd to go in before him. Odysseus goes into his palace. The boy gives the swineherd meat and bread to give to Odysseus. Odysseus gets stuff from all the suitors and asks for more from Antinous. Odysseus insultes Antinous so he gets a stool thrown at him. Penelope asks Eumaeus to bring Odysseus to her palace so she can welcome him. Eumaeus eats and goes back to watching pigs. Odysseus will meet Penelope after dusk.

While Odysseus is in his palace, disguised as a beggar, with the suitors begging, Irus comes in and gets mad at Odysseus for begging, because he wants everything the suitors give to himself It escalates to a fight and the suitors goad them on by offering a goat's stomach and eating with the suitors as a prize to the winner. They also threaten to send Irus to a king who will cut his genitals, nose, and ears off. Odysseus knocks Irus out with 1 hit and breaks his jaw. Athena makes Penelope come down to give advice to Telemachus, but the real reason is to get the suitors fired up. Melantho taunts Odysseus, so he threatens to tell Telemachus to cut his limbs off. One of the head suitors taunts Odysseus, calling him lazy and entitled. Penelop tells everyone that she is going to choose a new husband, and that she wants them to give her gifts, this makes the suitors give her lots of gifts. Athena makes everyone start taunting Odysseus to make him feel bitterness deep in his heart. Telemachus comes down to the dining hall and calms everyone down and they drink some wine and go to sleep

Telemachus moves the weapons out of the way under the excuse that the fire is damaging them with soot. At the same time, Odysseus is waiting for Penelope to meet him. While waiting, Melantho, the goat herd keeps harassing Odysseus. Once Penelope makes it to Odysseus, they start talking. Penelope asks Oddysseus where he is from and who his parents are. Penelope keeps insisting that he tell her, so Odysseus tells her his fake story that he made up for Eumaeus. Penelope tells the slaves to wash Odysseus, but Odysseus declines who offer. He says that if there was someone old, who had been through the suffering that he has, that he would let them wash him. Penelope tells the slave who raised Odysseus to wash his feet. While washing his feet, she notices a scar on his foot where he was attacked by a boar while hunting on another island with his cousin. The slave makes a huge deal about it and almost reviels the secret to Penelope, but Odysseus demands that she calm down and threatens her with death if she tells anyone. Odysseus tells Penelope of a dream he had where an eagle kills geese, inferring that Odysseus would be coming back soon.

Odysseus cant sleep because he's thinking about how to get revenge on the suitors, and Athena assures him that everything will turn out ok. Telemachus goes down to the meeting place of the Achaeans. melanthius starts harassing Odysseus again, and he bows his head and contemplates his plans to kill the suitors. Philoetius shows compassion to Odysseus. an eagle carrying a dove flies next to the suitors while they are planning on how to kill Telemachus. While they set up the feast for later that night, Telemachus tells them not to attack or bully Odysseus and they agree. a rich guy throws an ox foot at Odysseus, but luckily for him, Odysseus dodges it. The suitors start laughing so hard their faces bleed? The prophet leaves and tells them that something bads about to happen.

why does Athena want Odysseus to be so bitter, he already wants to kill the suitors

Athena makes Penelope bring out bows and axes for the plan. Penelope says that the person who can shoot and arrow through 12 axes will get to marry her. Telemachus tries first but fails. Leodes fails. as the suitors fail to even string the bow, Odysseus reveals himself to Eumaeus and the cow herd. He strings the bow easlily and shoots through all the axes

Odysseus gets naked and shoots Antinous. everyone freaks out and Eurymachus tries to save himself by saying it was Antinous' idea. Telemachus grabs the arms for himself the herders and Odysseus. Melanthius finds where they hid the arms and grabs them for the suitors. they hang Melanthius by the legs in the rafters for dawn. Athena joins the fight. they slaughter a bunch of people, but they spare the poets life because he was not there by choice. and Medon who didn't approve of the suitors but had no choice. after killing everyone in his house, Odysseus speaks to the woman who oversees all the slave girls to find out who is still loyal and who he has to kill. they kill the slave girls who disordered him by hanging, then cut Melanthius' nose and ears off, then ripped off his genitals, then cut of his hands and feet.
