chessboard
opportunities
Google websites with the rules of chess, this will give me information on how to play chess and other factors I will need to include in the board to ensure the rules can be maintained.
A possible customer could be younger people, (e.g. university students) as learning chess could give them more experience and competition.
Another customer could be older people as learning and playing chess could be a source of entertainment for them.
Chess club would allow me to learn how to play the game, furthering my skills.
strength
I can use 2D design to produce chess pieces designs and then the process of laser cutting to produce them.
Designers such as Ettore Sottsass could be a good designer to use for inspiration, due to his use of bright colours and vibrant patterns.
Using MDF or a more durable wood like oak would be good as it would be strong and withhold being dropped or played multiple times.
I could also produce the board from layers of acrylic, which are all different colours. This will make to board durable and more colourful if younger people want to play the game.
weaknesses
A weakness would be that I don’t know how to play chess, so would need to research.
