Identifying and Helping with Struggling Students
Has the teacher observed specific signs within the classroom of a student who is struggling
Parental Involvement
Gaining background family information is vital in determining the student's needs are adequately met in the classroom
Determine whether parental involvement is required
Advise the parents of any recommendations the school may have
Discuss home life and what strategies the parents may have in place within the home
The student's needs within the classroom.
Are their needs being addressed?
Monitoring their progress
Does the student need one to one assistance?
Do they feel safe in the classroom environment?
Strategies within the School
Liaise with team members
Commence an action plan
Refer to outside experts if needed
Reach a common goal for the student's needs
Prioritise the student's needs
Updates during the semesters on student's progress
Support for the teacher in the classroom
Follow up meetings between teachers, counsellors and SEN team and parents.
Assess the student
Evaluate the student's needs
Complete a cause of concern to notify Principals, Special Education Need (SEN) Leaders and Counsellors within the school
Is the student struggling mentally, academically or physically in the classroom
