Decline of the church
It is the main reason for the rise of humanism, as people became less interested in god, the afterlife and the saints, and more interested about themselves and the natural world.
There were two main causes for the decline
Bubonic plague, which ravaged Europe and killed over half of many countries population, the church could not help it.
The rise of the market economy, as money began to be a master trade, the church declined and saw themselves in a tricky situation.
