Neurons, work by:, 11 - A - Coggle Diagram
Neurons
types:
-
Motor neurons
carry impulses away from the brain and spinal cord to a gland or muscles, resulting in a secretion or movement.
Sensory neurons
receive impulses from receptors in the skin and sense organs and send them to the brain and spinal cord.
reflex arc
nerve pathway that consists of a sensory neuron, an interneuron, and a motor neuron.

Synapse
-
By neurotransmitters, chemicals that carry the action potential across the gap between 2 neutrons
Once neaurotransmitters reach the post ganglionic neauron the ACh is returned to the synapse and is reabsorbed to be used again

Action potential
Process
when a stimulus reaches the threshold, the channels open in the plasma membrane, causing the sodium ions to be pumped through these channels causing a temporary change in the electrical charges
The more positive charges are now inside the membrane, causing the channels to open and the potassium to be quickly pumped out of the cell
The potassium restores the positive charge outside the cell, so the rapid positive to negative charge reversal moves along the axon like a wave
