Ancient China
Government: According to the text it says. "Graduated civil servants had secured jobs and were most honorable and the best rewarded in China." Which made them want to take posts in local, or national government. Also on page 20 you can find how the people wore a necklace to show their official indication of rank therefore followed a strict guideline. (Cotterell)
Writing: On page 11, it said that the "used oracle bones to consult the ancestral spirits on important matter." Also, answers from important questions were answered from the cracks on the oracle bones. The oracle bones were inscribed on ox bones and tortoiseshell. (Cotterell)
Art: The art in Ancient was very different, and was not like other types of art. According to page 56 "China is famous for it's beautiful, high-quality ceramics." Its famous for them because, due to their partly rich deposits of porcelain stone. They also produced some tools for agriculture, and weapons for the army. Mainly for the important members of society. (Cotterell)
Technology: On page 24 it states that "The first paper was made from silk rags; later other fibrous materials were used, such as bamboo, hemp, and mulberry bark. Also according to the text it says that paper and printing were possibly the most important Chinese inventions back that time.

Religion: Throughout China's long history, they were tolerant to of all religions. In the text its says, " Although there were disagreements over religious principles, few people were persecuted for their beliefs." I think this helped with knowing the Chinese empire was very unique among civilizations. (Cotterell 26)
Trade: During the Silk Road there was a lot of trading going on, like on page 58, you can see that the trade flourished under the Mongol, and Chinese Merchants like to trade mostly silk, spices, teas, and porcelain. I know this because , the text states how "At home in China, the Mongols removed the usual restraints placed upon mechants" and the " Chinese Merchants amassed large fourtones by exporting luxury goods. Ancient Egypt
Location: In the text it said that in ancient Egypt, "dessert covers more that 90 percent of Egypt," and this was called the "Red Land." Also the text states that for thousands of years, the population of Egypt has depended on its fertile agricultural resources. (Hart 8)
Architecture: The author wrote how "the idea of the pyramids were to recreate the mound that had emerged out of the watery ground at the begging of time, on which the Sun god stood and brought the other gods and goddess into being." This text shows how the pyramids were used as mounds to recreate a mound for the gods and goddess and the Sun god to stand on. (Hart 20)
Art: Art in ancient egypt was pretty cool, it had lots of jewelry, paintings, and clothing. In the text it states, "you can see the glint of gold everywhere in egyptian jewelry-mines." This text states how everywhere you go in ancient egypt you always see gold on everyone. (Hart 58)
Government: As a statesman, the pharaoh made laws, waged war, collected taxes, and oversaw all the land in Egypt, he was in charge and made the rules. The text states , "The king was not only the most powerful and important man in egypt-he was thought to be a god. " (Hart 10)
Religion: The author wrote how "the Egyptians worshiped hundreds of different gods and goddesses," this statement shows that they are polytheistic. Also in the text it says that many of the gods and goddesses were represented by animals. (Hart 24)
Writing: The author wrote "Scribes had to be experts writing hieroglyphics, an elaborate form of picture-writing with about 700 different signs." This text shows how the scribes had to use 700 different signs to form a way of writing with using pictures. (Hart 34)
Mesopotamia
Location: In the text it said that the Greeks called the area Mesopotamia, which means "between the rivers." Also, in the text it states "most of ancient Mesopotamia lay within the borders or modern Iraq." (Steele 6)
Writing: The graphic shown on page twelve and thirteen, are how people from Mesopotamia write. I know this because in the text it says, "At first they used picture symbols to represent objects such as cattle, grain, or fish." On page twelve, it says how "Over the centuries the marks developed into a script that represented sound as well as meaning." (Steele 12)
Architecture:In the text, it tells us about Mesopotamia architecture and how this architecture includes ziggurats which are templates made of mud and hay.They consist of massive terraced platforms and templates on top. (Steele 24).
Religion: The author wrote "The sumerians worshiped many gods and goddesses." In the text said "The sumerians also believed in spirits, ghosts and demons." both of these examples show evidence that they were polytheistic. (Steele 14)
Art: An example of art is, they created jewelry with very expensive products. Also in the text it states, "they make pottery and the pottery wheel, which made pottery more efficient. (Steele 28)
