government: on page 16, it said that in 221 B.C. the first chinese empire was formed by Qin Shi Huangdi. Also in the text it states that Qin believed that he was a immortal, and began to think very highly of himself. as a result, qin began to treat his people harshly and used his subjects as slaves that disagreed with him. technology: in the text, it said that over time paper and printing became improved and helped communication, the text also said that the use of gunpowder was improving war tactics. as a result, china encouraged the world in the development of science and technology by trading and people spreading the inventions around. (cotterell 22)
writing: on page 11, it said that the " used oracle bones to consult the ancestral spirit on important matters." also answers from important questions were answered from the cracks on the oracle bones. the areal were inscribed on ox bone and tortoiseshell. (cotterell)
commerce (trade): in the text it said that the mongols could control the length of the silk road and made it safe for caravans to travel without danger. Also, it states that "chinese merchants amassed large fortunes by exporting luxury goods". as a result, trade in ancient china thrived and imports were extremely valuable. (cotterell 58)
art: on page 11: "it said that they used oracle bones to consult the ancestral spirits on important matters." i know this because they would do everything by hand. this explains back then hy would use half of there time a day creating something by hand without help or any tools.
laction: on page 40, the author wrote that :the landscape of imperial china was dotted with walled towns and cities". it grid system and separated into warda, and that these towns and cites were strictly under the control of authorities. as a results, the gates of these cities and town were locked every evening and the authorities kept registers of the inhabitants of every house. religion: on page 12, it said that when confucius recognized the uprisings of turmoil, he began to spread his new moral outlook. also it states that, is moral outlook was based on kindness," respect and the strength of the family." as a result, the chinese began to follow his morals and it eventually turned into a kind of religion for the chinese.
