ancient china
government : In chinese history their government was run by an emperor. In the text on page 18 it states "The earliest members of the imperial civil services were recruited by gaozu, the first Han emperor." This shows us that the emperor had a lot of of control over his rulings. (cotterell)
writing: on page 11, it said that the "used oracle bones to consult ancestral spirits on important matters". also answers from important questions were answered from the cracks in the oracle bones. the oracle bones were inscribed on ox bone and tortoise shells.(Cotterell)
technology: Ancient china had a lot of technology within farming, For example they had millstones which was a tool used to grind grain. Another example would be a wooden cart pulled by a water buffalo. In the text it also tells us about the tilt hammer, it says "This machine was powered by a single man who used his weight to tilt the hammer backward and forward in a seesaw action." This shows us some of the technology of ancient china. (Cotterell) 35-36
trade:On page 58 it said that in China they removed restraints placed on merchants. It also said " Chinese merchants amassed large fortunes by exporting luxury goods such as silk, spices, teas, porcelain, and lacquerware." They would be able to trade the items that were being exported.
art: In ancient chinese history, China was well known for its arts and crafts I know this because on page 56 it states "China has always been renowned for its arts and crafts." Also in the text the author says "In imperial china, luxury goods formed the major export commodities." This tells us that china was high in luxury art production. All of this information tells us that Ancient china had a lot of high quality art manufacturing which means it was important to their culture. (Cotterell)
location: in the text it said " in ancient china remained untouched influences because it was worlds apart." this shows that ancient china was a part that was old and from a long time ago so no one really did anything for it for a while. Also from 221 B.C. to A.D 1912, it was place from a long time ago and lasted a long time under a good empire. (cotterell)
religion: In ancient China they believed in the three ways, which were the three main religions in china, they included Confucianism, Buddhism, and Daoism. In the text it states, "throughout history China was tolerant of all its religions." this tells us that there were many religions in chinese history. In the text is also says "Although there were disagreements over religious principles, few people were persecuted for their beliefs." this shows us that china was respectful of most religions.
