Mesopotamia
location: In the text it said the Greeks called the area Mesopotamia, wich means "between the rivers.''Also. in the text it states that ''most of ancient Mesopotamia lay within the borders of modern Iraq.'' (Steele 6)
Writing:The author wrote that writing was used to keep records like taxes,and important records.They used a stick with a wedge in one end. (Steele 12)
Location:On page 6 it said That Mesopotamia was located mostly in modern day Iraq. "The people who lived there did not have a name for the whole region, but the ancient Greeks called it Mesopotamia, meaning "between the rivers." (Steele6)
Religion:On page 14, it said the ''Sumerians believed in many gods.'' They believed that stars wear crows of sin.(Steele 14
Architecture: On page 24 it said that ziggurats are temples like pyramids. Ziggurats are used for reregse porpoises. (Steele 24)
Arts: On page 28 Steele said that the Mesopotamians invented the potter's wheel. Mesopotamian metal workers wear creating strong metal alloys a little after 3000 BCE. (Steele 28)
Government:On page 10 it said That city state rulers had different titles some of which include Lord,and Governor. The rulers even claimed to rule on the wiles of the gods. (Steele10
Ancient China
Government: On page 62 it said that during the last 250 years of Ancient China the government was not run by Chinese people. When China wanted to stop the import of opium Britain declared war. After the war other countries demanded trade with China. With no other choice the Chinese accepted and eventually the rulers stepped down.(Cotterell)
Technology: On page 22 it said "Some of the world's greatest inventions came from China." In the text it said that China created printing. It also said China created the compass. (Cotterell)
writing: On page 11 it said that they "used oracle bone to consult the Ancestral spirits on important matters." Also, answers from important questions were answered on cracks on the bone. They were inscribed on ox bone and tortas shell.(Cotterell)
Commerce(trade): In the text it said "Trade flourished under the Mongrel, or Yuan, dynasty. "The Chinese controlled all of the silk road. Chinese merchants emased large fortunes from trading silk along the silk road. (Cotterell)(p58)
Art: On page 56 it said that gold was added to bronze statues to add shine. The Chinese used bronze to make decoration and ritual vessels. The Chinese used lead glazes on pottery to get beautiful swirls. (Cotterell)
Location: On page 38 it said "China is dominated by two great rivers."One of these rivers is called the Yellow River. The other is called Yangzi river.(Cotterell)
Religion: On page 12 it said, that Confucius was an ancient Chinese Scholar. In the text it said he created a religion based on kindness and respect. This new religion was named confucianism. (Cotterell)
Ancient egypt
Location: On page 8 it said "deserts cover more than 90% of Egypt." Also the text states for thousands of years the population of Egypt had depended on the river flooding to grow their crops. (Hart 8)
Writing:On page 34 it said that hieroglyphs wear intentionally complicated so few people could master reading/riting them. On page 34 it said that the Rosetta stone is how the key to under standing hieroglyphics.(Hart 34)
`Architecture:On page 20 it said that the first pyramid was built for the dead pharaohs.In the text it said that the pyramids were robbed of all of there jules.(Hart 20)
Religion: On page 24 it said that the ancient egypt civilizations religion was polytheism. The text sead in egypt there main deity was the sun god. (Hart 24)
Government:On page 10 it said the king was thought to be a god. In the text it said that pharaohs wear nearly assasinated.(Hart 10)
Arts:On page 56 it said that in between the Nile and the Red sea there was a lot of gold. In the text it said that egyptians did not know of jeans like diamond and emerald. (Hart54)
Indus River Valley/Aryans
Location: In the text it said that a civilization formed along the Indus River around 5,000 years ago. The civilization covers most of Pakistan and some of Afghanistan. Over time the buildings were covered by a lot of dirt. (Prentice Hall:World Studied)
Architecture/Technology: In the text it said The Indus Valley had the earliest sanitation system. In some houses there were places that directed waste water to covered drains in major cities. They also had advanced architecture such as protective walls and brick platforms. (Prentice Hall:World Studied)
Writing: In the text it said that their writing is still not understood. Over 400 characters of their language have been found. Not knowing the language makes it hard to learn about government and politics.(Prentice Hall: World Studied)
Government: In the text it said that the caste system is a system of government in India. The caste system is a social pyramid. The priests are the most important and the trash collectors are the least important in the system. (Prentice Hall: World Studied)
Religion: In the text it said that the most religious book was the Vedas in The Indus Valley. The Vedas describe religion and war victories. The Aryans practiced Buddhism (Prentice Hall: World Studied)
