mesopotamia
Location: On page 6, it said that "from around 3500 BCE, the first cities, and empires arose." Mesopotamia includes different regions like mountains and reed-filled wetlands. (Steele)
writing:On page 12 it said "These were pressed into soft clay with a stylus, leaving a wedged-shaped marks that harden." the early people did not need written records like we do.

Architecture: On page 24 the author says " A lasting symbol of ancient Mesopotamia is the ziggurat, a massive terrance platform made of brick." The word ziggurat is Assyrian and means tall.

religion: In the text it said " The sumerians worship many gods and goddesses." they believed in stars traveling in the sky.

government: On page 10 the author said "The Sumerians' own name for their territory, Ki-en-gir, may have meant land of civilized lords."the rulers were honored with different titles.

location: On page 8 it said "the Egyptians lived on the black land named after the rich dark silt on which the farmers grew their crops". Also the text states that the desert covers 90 percent of egypt and this was called the "Red land". (Hart)
writing: On page 34 it says " Scribes had to become experts at writing hieroglyphs" that shows how important they are. It also says on page 34 that it was kept complex so not many people could master it. (Hart)
architecture: On page 20 it says" The first pyramid was built as a burial place for King Djoser". It also says that by 1000 BCE all the precious stuff was stolen. (Hart)
religion: On page 24 it says " each 42 administrative areas had its own god". It also says on page 24 that the sun god could take many different forms. (Hart)
government: On page 12 it says "At great state occasions like royal jubilee celebrations". It also says that all the royals would attend. (Hart)
art: On page 56 it says "You can see the glint of glitter everywhere". It also says that mines are near the nile and red sea (Hart)
Ancient China
government: On page 16 the text states that "Zheng took the title First Sovereign Qin Emperor, or Qin Shi Huangdi". The name Qin would be passed down to whoever the new emperor was at the time. The emperor was passed in a family until they did something bad and then it would go to a random person. (Cotterell)
technology: The text states that "In the middle ages many Chinese inventions were carried along the silk road to Europe where some had an enormous impact". Also they created many of the weapons that we have today. Some of the worlds greatest inventions come from China (Cotterell)

Kings used oracle bones to communicate with ancestors about questions. Also it states that "cracks were then read to discover the answer to a question put to the ancestors". The answers to the questions were written on the ox bone or tortoiseshells. (Cotterell)
trade: On page 58, it said "Chinese merchants amassed large fortunes by exporting luxury goods such as silk, spices, teas, porcelain, and lacquerware". It also said that in China, they removed restraints placed on merchants. (Cotterell)
art: In the text it says that "During the period that Sun Zi wrote The art of life. the worlds oldest military handbook, which gave advice to nobles on the practice of warfare". Also, the Zhou dynasty was declined because the long periods of warfare. Warfare caused a lot of things to decline because of how serious it was sometimes. (Cotterell)

location: On page 38, it states that "The Yangtze River provided a water supply for rice cultivation in the warm south climate, and its rich delta became China's main rice growing region". The Yellow and Yangtze rivers were by the Grand Canal, a waterway across the Chinese empire. (Cotterell)
religion: The text said that "confucius believed that the early years of the Zhou dynasty were golden years of social harmony". For example, the king reduced the anger of the lords who fought each other. Confucius was also considered the uncrowned emperor of China. (Cotterell)

Indus river valley/Aryans
location: Indus was created because of a large amount of fertile land. 5,000 years ago it was developed along the Indus river. The Indus is surrounded by large mountains and oceans. (Prentice Hall- World Studies)
architecture/tech: They had the earliest sanitation system.Harappa was a major city.They were very advanced for their time. (Prentice Hall- World Studies)
religion: They spoke a language called sanskrit. "The religion of Ancient Aryans, known as Brahmanism, was polytheistic and heavily influenced the later development of Hinduism". They were heavily polytheistic. (Prentice hall- world studies)
government: The government has a system called the "caste system". The highest is the brahmin, and the lowest is the dalitis. The vaishya is the middle class. (Prentice Hall- World Studies)
writing:There are over 400 in the indus and aryan writing system. They would use the seal ceramic blocks. The development of the caste system was born. (Prentice Hall- World Studies)
