Ancient Civilization
Mesopotamia
Location:In the text it said this area was home to Sumerians,Assyrians, and Babylonians, and they created writing and many other inventions.
Also according to the text "Most of ancient Mesopotamia lay within the borders of modern Iraq". (Steele 6)
Writing:At first people used drawings and symbols to represent objects they would do this by pressing it into clay. it wasn't till centuries after where they put in it a script.

Architecture: There ziggurats had shrines at the top of them and were built with bricks. Most of there buildings were royal things but were served as a different purpose

Religion: In the book it said that Sumerians worshiped many gods and that's how they made their rules. they believed that the stars traveling around the sky were cow sin.

Government: Most of the Sumerians who ruled were obsessed with have fame and power all the time. In the text it said "Sumerian kings claimed to rule by the will of the gods" meaning that they ruled by religion.

Art: The mesopotamians art was clay and crafting things with clay like vqses and more. Then they made a pottery wheel and it was used by expert potters.

Ancient Egypt
Location: On page 8 it said "the ancient Egyptians lived on a strip of land on either side of the Nile." Also, in the text it says that the "Red,Land," which was the desert, covers 90 percent of Egypt

Writing: On page 34 it talked about how Scribes had to be super expert writers and that was there job. Also on the same page it also talked about how the Scribes had to learn picture writing with over 700 different symbols
Architecture: On page 20 it talked about pyramids and how the first one was made for a king's burial. The called it the step pyramid and each of the gods helped it when something happens or when there was a problem.

Religion: On page 24 it said that they believe in many gods. Also on page 25 it said that the rulers of Egypt were chosen by the gods. (Hart
Government:On page 10 it explains the pharaohs they were the kings of the government and was known as a god. The queens were goddesses but women barely ruled because the Pharaohs are trained. (Hart)
Art: On page 57 it talks about how most of their jewelry is made out of gold. They didn't have many other things to use but they made many things and shapes

Indus River Valley/Aryans
Writing: In the passage it talked about how they can't decipher the writing from the ancient civilization. The writings are commonly found on "seals, ceramic pots, and other type of materials". (Petrite hall world studies)
Location: In the text it said that around 5,000 years ago a civilization was created near the Indus river. It was created there because of the fertile land and was good for farming. The indus river valley covers most of Pakistan today. Peritite Hall World Studies.
Architecture/Tech: In the passage it started off talking about there importance for hygiene and their water. The second art was talking about the materials they use to build their cities. (Petrite hall World Studies)
Religion: In the text it talked about how the Aryans spoke a language called Sanskrit. They also left two major things of literature called Mahabharata and Ramayana. Most of their sacred writing came from the vedas. (Petrite hall World Studies)
Government: In the article it showed how they had a hierarchy which decided your status in life. It also shows the order of the people the hierarchy was called the caste system. (Petrite hall World Studies)
Ancient China
Government
Location: On page 38 it shows that China was dominated by two different rivers. The yellow river which is on the North part of China and the Yangzi river which is in the south. Both of the rivers in the 6th century became linked by the grand canal. (Cotterell)
Commeros/Trade: On page 58 it talked about the silk road which is/was how and where people would trade. The silk road helped people gain and give new materials. The silk road also helped spread diseases because people would travel and trade with other people and share germs. (Cotterell)
Technology: On page 22 it talked basically said that some of the older inventions inspired some technology. It also said that China would share the technology and science on the silk road. One of the things that China traded was paper which improved communications. (Cotterell)
Writing: On page 11 it said that the Shang kings used oracle bones to communicate with ancestors about questions. It states that "cracks were then used to discover the answer to a question asked to the ancestors". The answers to the questions were written on the bone or turtle shell. (Cotterell)
Art: In the text is said that some of there major export things are/were "Chinese bronze, jade, silk, lacquer, and porcelain". Another thing that the text talked about was how that artists were actually important. Artists were important because they would make weapons and things for the wars and more.(Cotterell 14)
Religion: On page 12 in the text it told me that in the Zhou dynasty Confucius believed that the dynasty was filled with golden years. Some of the things that Confucius believed was that you should always have respect for your family and have loyalty. (Cotterell)
