Ancient China
Government: In the text it says that the government had great responsibility. If he wanted to remain king then he must have the mandate of heaven. Also in the text it says that emperor Qin put his soldiers to great hard labor to protect the citizens. "He used his subjects as slave laborers to build the Great Wall of China and suppressed anyone who disagreed with him. (Cottrell 16)
Religion: In the book it says that people believed in the
religion confucius. This religion was solely based on being kind, and nice to other people and being virtuous. I know this because "Confucius believed that the early years of the Zhou dynasty were the golden years of harmony and peace" (Cotterell 12)
Art: China is a very beautiful place. It is known for its arts and crafts. For example, "Chinese bronze, jade, silk, lacquer, and porcelain were prized in Asia" Also in the text it says that After the scholars and the peasants farmers, and artists were the most respected and important in the society. (Cottrell 56)
Writing: In the text it said an ox bone or a shell from
from a tortoise was burned until it cracked.
Also the text says that "the cracks were then read to
discover the answer to a question put to the ancestors.
The oracle bones were mainly used by the shang kings.

Technology: Chinese technology has changed the world for the better. An example is "Technology dramatically improved communications; gunpowder changed the way which battles were fought ; a harness for draft animals revolutionized agriculture." The point is that if China didn't have their technology, they would be in a poorer state than they are now . (Cottrell 22)
Commerce (trade) Commerce really flourished under the mongol dynasty. For example, "the mongol emperors ruled China from 1279 to 1368 and permitted merchants to trade freely throughout their vast empire. This means that many people traded things along the empire. Some of them being silk, jade, and porcelain. Only not everything traded along the empire was physical. Sometimes they traded language or religion. (Cottrell 58)
Location: Where was the location of China? Well, in the text it says "China was dominated by two great rivers, the yellow river in northern China and the Yangzi in the south." These helped make the lands very fertile. The downside to the rivers was that it caused devastating floods and ruined some innocent lives. (Cottrell 38)
Mesopotamia
Location: In the text it said this area was home to Sumerians, Assyrians, and Babylonians, and they created writing, and many other inventions. Also according to the text "most of the ancient mesopotamia lay within the borders of modern iraq"(Steele 6

Writing: In the text it says what most mesopotamians used to write was a clay square, and they would write in cuneiform to write messages to each other. I know this because in the text it says "Over the centuries the marks developed into a script that represented sounds as well as meaning" (Steele 12)

Architecture: In the text it said part of their architecture is a ziggurat. A ziggurat is like a pyramid in ancient egypt. On page 24 it said " A ziggurat is a massive terrace platform made of brick" (Steele 24)

Religion: In the text it says "The Sumerians worshiped many gods and goddesses." They also believed in the stars that moved (Steele 14

Government: Mesopotamians are ruled by an emperor who lives in an empire. One of these emperors. was sargon the 1st, and he was ruthless, heartless, and cold as most people were back then
Art: Art was a very important thing in mesopotamia. Things they did was clay, and they would shape the face of someone to get a clear image of them, because they obviously didn't have cameras back then. They drew things like the gods and goddesses, and they drew the night sky, and they believed in the stars that moved.
Ancient Egypt
Location: On page 8 it says "The ancient Egyptians lived on a strip of either side of the Nile." Also, in the text it says that the "Red land," which was the dessert covers 90 percent of Egypt. (Hart)
Writing: On page 34 scribes specialized in writing they had to be masters at it, and they wrote in hieroglyphs. There was about 700 different symbols. Also in the text it says "It was deliberately kept difficult, so that not too many people could master it, and kept the scribes in their master position" (Hart

Architecture: On page 20 pyramids were used to get closer to the gods and goddesses. Also on page 20 in the text it says "It was supposed to represent a gigantic for the king to climb to join the sun god in the sky." (Hart)

Religion: On page 24 it states "The Egyptians worshiped many gods and goddesses, and sometimes it was difficult to work out who was who." Also it says In egypt there were 42 districts, and there was a god for each district. Overall the sun god was the leader. (Hart)
Government: In ancient egypt they had different rankings, and the Pharaoh was the highest ranking, and they were the leader. I know this because in the text it says on page 28 "The pharaoh was supposed to perform the duties of the highest priest in every temple in egypt." It also says that they had great power, and controlled the vast wealth. (Hart)
art:On page 56 it says "You can see the glint of gold everywhere in Egyptian jewelry."Also in the text it says"Goldsmiths also made patterns using a method called granulation.(Hart)
