Indus River Valley
Location: In the text it said that "Over time, a vast number of settlements were built on the banks of the Indus River and surrounding areas". It also said that most cities have Harappa and Mohenjo-daro. Also "The Indus Valley region was a region rich in fertile soil, ideal for agriculture". (Prentice Hall: World Studies)
Writing: The text states that over 400 symbols have been uncovered from different locations.". I also found that the most confusing part of the ancient civilization is that they had different writing that can't be deciphered. It also states that "many of the symbols are located on seals, ceramic pots, and other types of materials, but it is still a mystery ." (Prentice Hall: World Studies)
Architecture/Technology: In the text it said that Mohenjo-Daro was a very well planned city, with wide, straight streets and very large buildings. "Also, within many homes, some rooms had facilities in which waste water was directed to cover drains and these lined the major streets." It also said that these cities were very advanced for that time. (Prentice Hall: World Studies)
Religion: The text says that "they spoke a language called Sanskrit, which became the basis of many modern South Asian language." Also "much of what we know about them today also came from sacred writing called the Vedas." It also said that Buddhism and Hinduism is very popular there. (Prentice Hall: World Studies)
Government: The text said that "these were two epic poems telling exciting stories of wards, kings, and heroes." It also says that "however, they did leave behind two major collections of literature: 1) Mahabharata, and 2) Ramayana." The text also says that there was a castle system that controlled the whole place. (Prentice Hall: World Studies)
