Frontal Plane: Front/back
Transverse: divides top and bottom
Sagittal: divides body between right an left
Middle of the Body
Thorax: near the abdomen
Abdomen: contains the stomach,intestines
Proximal: nearest point to the middle of the body
Medial: the middle of the body
Facing the Body
Eversion: moving the foot so it faces the body
Supination: moving the forearm so it faces up
Adduction: moving the limb toward the midline of the body
Cranial: the skull
Anterior: the front of the sctucture
Superior: above a structure near the head
Palmer: the palm of the hand
Superficial: on the surface
Away from the body
Pronation: moving the forearm so it is facing down
Inversion: moving the foot away from the body
Extension: movement that increases the angle of the body
Flexion: bending forward
Deep: away from the surface/further into the body
Inferior: Away from the head
Caudal: near the end of the body(tail)
planter: the sole of the foot
Dorsal: the back
Posterior: the back of the structure
lateral: the side away from the body
abduction: any motion that pulls the body away from the midline
Distal: the part of the body that is furthest away from the midline
