IMPRESSIONS
we had a great time in a fabulous town
it was such an unforgettable experience

completely chaotic, but a real feast for the senses
what really made a lasting impression on me was
I had never felt more appreciated as a tourist
I was utterly astonished by/when I saw
the place deserves its great write-up in guidebooks

TRAVEL PROBLEMS
the summer heat was overwhelming/ I wasn’t used to such high temperatures / come down with sunstroke
I seemed to have been the victim of some scam / my wallet and phone were swiped from my pockets
the trip was desastrous from beginning to end
my flight was severely delayed because of weather problems /we weren’t even issued any blankets or foot stamps
my flight was shifted to the following day /I had to camp down in the departure lounge for the night
suffer from seasickness/ airsickness
miss the connecting flight / my flight was cancelled and I was stuck at the airport
came down with the worst case of food poisoning ever/ was bedridden for a week / had to cover the bills out of my pocket
was given an old banger instead of a decent set of wheels / got stuck in the middle of nowhere / with no civilization in sight / I was left stranded with no water / I was sunburned and dangerously dehydrated
the weather wasn’t on my side / I couldn’t even venture outside / It literally poured down nonstop for the entire duration of my stay
ACCOMMODATION

stay in a self-catering apartment/guesthouse / opt for private rentals like cottages / be self-reliant
campsite: pitch a tent / park a caravan
rough it in hostels / be bunked with total strangers/ wash facilities are basic/ hack such conditions
