Disrespect/Ignorance Towards Asian Culture Throughout many instances of the movie, the white actors are dismissive of Japanese culture. For instance, at the beginning of the movie when Lucy bets with director that she can fool Paul, she asks the Geisha if she can put on," one of their costumes". She does not respect that yukata are traditional dress for the Japanese. Moreover, the Samuel, the director, asks Kazumi if he can "take her" to help with the film. He views Japanese women as mere objects, not as people.
