I act - Venice: a dark-skinned Moor, Othello, a general of the Venetian army, has secretely married Desdemona, daughter of a nobleman. He sets out with her for Cyprus as the commander of the Venetian army against the Turks. Iago, the Moor's attendant, pretending to be loya to Othello, is actually making a plot to have Cassio, the Moor's lieutenant, dismissed.
II act - Cyprus: Iago tells the audience of his plan to separate Otehello and Desdemona
III act - Iago succeeds in making Othello believe that Desdemona loves Cassio and manages to prove Desdemona's unfaithfulthness, stealing a handkerchief from Desdemona and leaving it in Cassio's lodgings.
IV act- Iago manages to arouse jealousy in Othello, who decides to kill his wife.
V act - Othello strangles Desdemona in her bed. Having discovered to have been tricked, he stabs himself. Iago is imprisoned and Cassio becomes the Governor of Cyprus.
