  - - - Tony uses his big body and "The Drome" to make himself look like a monster which makes people not mess with him. He uses it to become a good drug dealer and uses the money that he gets from it to help out with his grandma Maxine. Tony is a complex character who does bad things to try and do good things.
    - - The drome taught him to know when people are hiding thoughts. He knows what people are thinking and when someone is agressive or scared. Tony is someone who knows and understands things and people quickly. He could be using that skill that he picked up on to his advantage to help sell drugs.
  - - - "I knew I liked him when I heard the line “Got more soul than a sock with a hole.” What I liked is that I understood all the meanings to it right away, like instantly. It meant soul, like having a hole in a sock gives the sock character, means it’s worn through"(p18)
    - - " I watched the feathers flutter on the screen. I put my arms out and dipped my shoulders down, then I walked up to the TV. I tightened my chin strap. I looked at my face. The Drome. I didn’t see it there. I saw an Indian. I saw a dancer."
        
        When Tony put on the regalia he didn't see the drome. He saw an Indian. He could have seen who he actually might be. His culture could be a way of him being able to hide from the drome. Could this have changed his mind of robbing the powwow?

        "I try to help her in whatever ways I can because she lets me live at her house, over in West Oakland, at the end of Fourteenth, which she bought a long time ago when she worked as a nurse in San Francisco." (p19)
        
        Tony helping his grandma who lets him live in his house, shows hows he's a caring person. He does all these things for her to pay her back for all the things she's done for him. Especially since she raised him. It also shows how he's a loyal person for not using her for his advantage.

        Tony holds a grudge against his mother. He blames her for everything wrong in his life. He has lots of resentment towards her. This might be why he is always so angry. H

    - - Dene uses music to reassure himself that people aren't making fun of him. Hes the type of person that whenever someone laughs he thinks they're laughing about him. He feels like people dislike him, but he knows its probably not true. He's paranoid and has low-self esteem
        
        Me and Dene listen to music in different ways and in a similar ways. We both listen to music for that sense of confidence. Certain songs that I listen to, either it's the lyrics or just simply the beat brings me confidence just like Dene with the song lyrics that he listens to that make him reassure himself that people aren't making fun of him.

        Doesn't like her brother and argues a lot with him through Dene

  - - - Dene is a person with who I think many of us can connect to. Many people don't see him for who he is. He is very confused about who he is.

        Edwin is a person who really wants to know more about his culture. Since his mom is dead in the game it shows how his relationship with his mom isn't that good. He's mad at her for not giving him that connection with his dad and his culture. Although his dad isn't with him in real life he wishes to have lived with him in the reservations. Edwin had been dying to find out his other half, the one which is mom has kept away from him.
    - - Really wants to meet his dad so he texts him on his moms account on facebook
    - - Doesn't like how he is taking his mom away from him

        Daniel doesn't want to let go of the only house they've lived in to maintain that connection with his dead brother.
      - " And I know you wouldn’t approve. I’m sorry but we need the money. Mom lost her job. After you died she just stayed in bed. I couldn’t get her out. I don’t know where rent’s coming from next month." (p136)
        
        He's helping with Powwow to not get evicted. He's also doing it for his mother. When he pays the rent, he's giving his mother more time to grief.
  - - - Ever since Manny died the group had been serious, but as soon as this gun printed everyone started laughing and getting excited. Daniel could be someone who brings joy the group. He likes making people happy. He's nurturing and caring. And since his brother died, he could be filling the void of him.
    - - Daniel spent 3 hours watching a 3-D gun print instead of doing other things. Someone who would spend 3 hours watching something print I would call passionate. He's passionate about his creation and if it's even going to work.
    - - He feels responsible for the guns and if they work or not because he made them. He puts the success of the whole robbery on himself and he would blame himself if it does not go well. This shows that he is the kind of person that takes responsibility of others and put it all on himself, even if he is one small piece of the plan .
    - - Daniel doesn't care if people die during the robbery of the powwow. All he cares about is getting the money and only thinks about the people around him. As long as they're safe and good, he doesn't care about other people. Because of his hatred of his dad and his dad being Indian, he doesn't care about Powwow, and only cares about robbing it to get payback on his dad in some way. He's someone selfish.
        
        Daniel and I are similar in the fact that we can be selfish. We are selfish about things we care about but the thing that is different between us is the thing we are selfish for. Daniel is a selfish person who only cares about the people around him, while I'm selfish just for random things that I care about, either if its for not sharing things with my siblings or other people or with things I really care about.
- - - - Calvin is a person who doesn't have that of a strong connection with his Native culture. Although he has people in his life who want him to remember and keep on it. Blue was someone that encouraged Calvin to be a part of Powwow and Dene as well. They're both trying to help him have that connection with his culture. He feels bad for saying he's Native. He's someone who I feel like doesn't yet know who he is, he kind of is being pressured into this native culture when he himself doesn't feel like he even is native.
- - - - I was only there for 2 weeks and really wanted to know more about my culture there in Mexico. I had some strong connections with my cousins, aunts, and uncles there in the little town I stayed in. I got to see a glimpse of what my real culture was there since they had a little festival for the town.
        
        Although I was only there for 2 weeks, I didn't think it was enough time to see all of what I wanted to see in Mexico. I really wanted and still want to know more about my culture in Mexico.
        
        Me and Edwin are similar because both of us want to know more about our culture. Edwin was dying to see his other half which was his Indian culture and even though I'm not mixed or anything, I still feel like I'm also missing that half. Being born in the united states to Mexican parents, I wasn't really taught about my culture that much. I was too focused on being able to learn English and doing well in school. When I went to Mexico was when I saw a part of that half. I'm still also dying to find out more about that other half of me that is missing just like Edwin.
  - - - I listen to different types of music because they all make me feel different ways depending on the way I'm feeling.
        
        Music for me brings me joy, happiness, calmness, confidence, and just pleasure while listening to it.
  - - - Not only do I like playing it, I also enjoy watching it with my parents. We always watch our national team play all together.
        
        Watching and playing soccer is something I'm passionate for.
        
        Me and Daniel are similar because we're both passionate for watching something. Daniel is passionate for watching his 3-D gun print, while I'm passionate for watching soccer.
- - - - My dad always trusts me with what I do, whenever I go out somewhere he always tells me that he trusts me to not do any dumb or stupid things. I gained his trust over time and I don't use that to my advantage.
    - - I always try my best in school and at my job as a way to try and give back to them for all that they've done but it will never be enough to compare since they have done and gone through so much.
        
        Me and Tony are similar in away because both are trying to give back to the person/ the people who gave us a better life. If Tony's grandma had never raised him who knows where he would be. Just like me with my parents, If my parents never had moved here to help me and my sisters with a better education and life who knows where I would be. We both try to give back to the people who raised us.
        
        They always tell me to try my best in school and in everything I do. The only way I can think of paying them back is by listening to what they say and one day being a successful person in life and them being proud of what they did and what I've become.
  - - - As I was growing up with them I was always reminded about these things. If it was from them or from my parents.
        
        Even though I was reminded about these things, I didn't always listen to them. I always was kind of selfish about things that I really care about.
        
        One time I remember being selfish was when I had a snack that I really loved and when my siblings would ask for some I would always say no and then they would tell my parents and I would have to end up giving them some
