In 1908 Nightingale was awarded The Freedom of the City of London. She was the first woman to receive this honor.

In August 1910, Nightingale caught sickness and seemed to improve, however she passed away unexpectedly a few weeks later.

She helped sick people on her family's estate, and believed care taking was her life calling
At this point in history, nursing was not respected. Therefore, her parents were not supportive of her ambition for the career.
From a very young age, she had a dream to become a nurse.
Born in Florence, Italy in 1820
As she got older, she ignored her family's hesitations and pursued her passion and calling.
