BOOK 1
First book primarily is devoted to his childhood memories (which he should have constructed,
as he couldn't recall it)
In this book he seek answer to
the question: " How one can seek God,
without knowing what he is?"
The answer was: "We need to have faith
and God will reveal himself to us."
He asks God to 'come into him' and makes conclusion that God is everywhere and in the everything.
Although God cannot be contained in what he has created, He is a necessary condition for everything to exist, so it means he is in all living creatures.
Later he analyses the nature of life and leaves the possibility that life is a kind of death, and that a true lie starts when person's soul leaves the body.
Augustine several times returns to the question 'who was he before his birth' and unfortunately leaves this Q without proper answer.
After that writer discusses his path to Christianity, through being pagan.
Moreover most o the Book 1 was devoted to the errors of his early teachers, who were ignorant of real purpose of the education.
Book 1 closes with brief list of Augustine's childhood sins, which in his opinion were shocking. However, he admits that he had good sides also, but they were only because of glory of the God.
