What is the most flavoursome and healthiest tea?
Healthiest
Define Healthiest
Drinks and food can prvide the body with the nutrients that are required for the body's well-being and to retain energy (morelondobgyn.com).
What makes a tea healthy?
Tea contain small amounts of nutrients but large amounts of polyphenols (morelandobgyn.com). These polyphenols contribute to a lower risk of heart diseases, cancer, diabetes, and weight loss (health.harvard.edu.). Furthermore, these substances allow it to act 'as an antioxidant'; compound which potentially reduces the risk of chronic illness (eatright.org).
Healthiest Types of tea:
Rooibos Tea
Hibiscus Tea
Jasmine Tea
Lemon Verbena Tea
Green Tea
Tea
Define Tea
Tea is a drink made by the infusion of dried crushed leaves in boiling water (Oxford Dictionary).
Flavoursome
Define Flavoursome
Flavoursome refers to a pleasant, distinct flavour.
Strongest Flavours of Tea
Asam Black tea
Assam Black Tea originates from India and comprises of assamica tea varistal . According to to HelathDirect, the larger the quantity of broken leaves used, the stronger the flavour and caffeine concentration.
Chai Tea
This tea also originates from India, this black tea is commonl ymade with milk and sugar. Like the Assam black tea, it has an intense black tea ase along with numerous spices (simplelooseleaf.com).
What gives tea its prominent flavour?
Amount of water the tea is oaked in (concentration ratio)
Whether the tea is caffeinated or not
Amount of Sugar
In Correspondence to Healthline, the flavour of tea is dependent on the amount of
tannins
present; which refers to a ground of compounds (polyphenols) known for their distinct flavour, chemical properties and health benefits. Such as acting as antioxidants and anti-flammatory effects. Further more, these compounds have the ability to easily combine with other proteins and minerals.
Tannins
As mentioned prior, the concentration of tannins determine the health and bitterness level of the tea. In correspondence to Healthline, the concentration of tannins in tea is determined by the way it was produced and time allowed for the bag/leaves to soak. The site also references how certain sources state black tea has the highest concentration which green tea has the lowest concentration. Furthermore, the cheaper the production and sale of the tea, the higher the tannin concentration. Indicating large amounts of tannins results in an irritated digestive tissue, stomach pains and nausea.
Practical Component of the question
Titration
b) Soaking different types of tea bags in hot water for a few minutes then adding distilled water t omake the solution room temperature.
c) Using differnt types of tea packaging such as tea bags, actual leaves, powder, spices, and more.
a) Soaking the same type of tea but with different water temperatures. Make sure the water temperature is not too hot or cold to be handled.
d) Allowing the tea to soak for different periods of time before beginning the titration method.

Aim and Hypothesis
Aim
The aim of this design and deconstruct is to determine which type of tea is teh healthiest and most flavoursome based on the concentration of tannins.
Potential Hypothesis
The tea bag with the longest soaking period will result in a higher concentration of tannins
Soaking the tea in hot water will result in a higher concentration of tannins.
Using tea leaves instead of tea bags will result in a higher concentration of tannins.
Possible Errors
Systematic
The timing was incorrectly set or timed
The concentration was incorrectly calculated
Measuring instruments may not be calibrated properly
Random
The tea bag quality and production level may vary
Leftover chemical substances rom previous practicals may still be in the beaker
