Average Rate of Change
The average rate of change of a quantity is the amount of change in the quantity divided by the time taken for the change to occur.

Continuity at a point
A function has continuity x = c if the graph of the function is unbroken at c and there are no holes, jumps, or gaps.
A continuous function is a function that is continuous at every point in its domain.
Continuous function
A function is continuous at c if:
1) f(c) exists
2) the limit as x approaches c exists AND
3) the limit and f(c) are equal.
Average speed
Average speed is the distance traveled during an interval in time divided by the length of the time interval.

Difference quotient
The difference quotient is a rule, stating: f - g, meaning that function f(x) is being subtracted by function g(x).
Discontinuous function
A function is discontinuous when the graph stops being continuous. In other words, a discontinuous graph will be broken--maybe by a jump, hole, or any type of gap.

End Behavior Model
The end behavior of a polynomial / rational function refers to the function's limits as x approaches infinity and as x approaches negative infinity.
End-behavior models are simpler than the function, but still have the same end behavior.
