Princess Nausicca
Goes to river to clean clothes. Sees Odysseus and gets courage from Athena to help him. Gives clothes, food, and bathing supplies. Tells him directions to her house.
Slave girls
Serve the princess, help Odysseus
Odysseus
Gets help from beautiful girl (Princess Nausicca) and gets beauty from Athena. Is told of a place for shelter and support.

Book Seven
Athena
Covers Odysseus in a blanket of mist to hide him from the towns folk. Rakes the form of a small girl and leads him to the home of King Alcinous
Odysseus
Travels hidden in Athena's mist to the palace of the king. Begs at Queen Arete's knees for help. Is accepted to feast and sleep and given the Kings word of safe journey home.

Book Eight
King Alcinous
Invites lords of Phaecia his palace for a welcome feast. Orders men to make ship for Odysseus. Asks Odysseus of his name
Odysseus
Is saddened by the bards song and cries. Throws a discus farther than all the boys and men proving his strength and skills.
Athena
Disguises herself as Phaecian and spreads word of the godlike visitor who recently appeared on the island. Declares Odysseus the winner in a game.
Book Nine
Odysseus
Tells King Alcinous about his encounter with the cyclops. Odysseus landed with his men on and island full of goats and they ate and drank reviving themselves from the hard storm. When Odysseus went to see the guest they found it was a Cyclops. The Cyclops Polyphemus ate some of the men and kept them captive in his cave. Odysseus stabbed Polyphemus in the eye blinding him and escaped.
