Marine pollution, Types of marine pollutions - Coggle Diagram
Marine pollution
Measures of Marine Pollution
Limit the waste material.
Need to clean beaches and rivers.
The farmers should not use pesticides and fertilizers while crop are growing.
Only rainwater should go in the drains because drain water goes out to the ocean.
Minimize the energy as much as we can to reduce the oceanic temperature.
Spread awareness of the importance of marine life.
Offer people to join any organization that works for helping the ocean.
Stop using single-use-plastic to protect the marine ecosystem, give options to buy eco-friendly products and material.
Effects of Marine Pollution
Reduction of oxygen level in the water
Affects the oceanic food chain
Upsets the coral reef cycle
Oil spills in the ocean
Toxins harm the marine ecosystem
Causes of Marine Pollution
Storm Water pollution is when water that stays on the surface and flows in the nearby water bodies.
Sewage Disposal is when sewage enters the ocean through rivers and pollutes the marine life. It causes reduction of oxygen level in the water
Oil spills from ships also cause marine pollution. It is one of the major toxin which is hard to clean form the sea.
Green house gasses are emitted from fossil fuels. the cause acidification.
Mining causes both marine pollution and noise pollution. It affects the base level of the ocean.
Types of Marine Pollution
Acidification: Acidification is when the level of carbon dioxide rises so the oceans become acidic.
Toxins: Toxins that don't get dissolved or disintegrate with the marine ecosystem rapidly get accumulated in the tissue cells of aquatic creatures. Some examples are such as pesticides, dioxins, phenol, and more.
Eutrophication: Eutrophication is when excessive nitrates and phosphorates are present in the water. It reduces the oxygen level in the water.
Plastics: Plastics now days have become a basic necessity of humans and consists 80% of the oceans capacity. Plastic dumped in the oceans are dangerous for all life forms.
