Topic 4: QUALITY OF A GOOD TEST
VALIDITY
Criterion-related validity
Concurrent validity
the test and the criterion are administered a the
same time
Predictive validity
the degree to which a test can predict candidate s ’s
future performance
ex: IELTS score - first year : 4.0
Construct validity
a test can be demonstrated that it measures just the
ability which is supposed to be measured
quan trọng nhất -> đo dc cái cần đo
Content validity
determined by what is
easy to test rather than what is important to test
Face validity
a test looks as if it measures
what it is supposed to measure
If a test doesn’t have a face validity, it is
not used or the negative reaction to it
RELIABILITY
consistency of measurement
RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN VALIDITY & RELIABILITY
reliable -> may not valid at all
Misfitting items
ex: Hopi House, Hopi artist, the Hopis -> unfamiliar to test takers
To be valid -> must be reliable
