Types of Poem

- 17 Syllables all together
- Have only 3 lines and 1 stanza
- 1st line (5 syllables), 2nd line (7 syllables), 3rd line (5 syllables).

- 1st, 2nd, and 5th line must have 7-10 syllables.
- 3rd, and 4th line must have 5-10 syllables.

- A quatrain (have 4 lines)

- Praises indiividual, Idea, or event
- Rhyme scheme: A-B-A-B-C-D-E-C-D-E

- Usually written in 3-5 stanzas

- The first three subgroups have 4 lines which makes them (quatrain)
- Concludes with a two-line subgroup

Genres of Poetry
Narrative Poetry: Narrative Poetry is like a novel. It tells stories that complete with it's character, setting, and plot. It also could be presented in a dialogue. Narrative poetry has only one speaker that read from the begining-end.
Descriptive Poetry: Descriptive poetry was a descriptive poem that describes in detail about a person, animal, or even an object.
