The world soul, Brahman, was sometimes seen as having 3 personalities such as brahman the creator, vishnu the protecter, and Shiva the destroyer. but over the centuries brahman faded while Devi who is the great goddess grew in importance. Now hindus are free to choose the deity they worship while also being free to choice 3 different paths to achieve moksha.         Fourth noble truth - The way to overcome such desires and attain enlightenment is to follow the Eightfold Path, which is called the Middle Way between desires and self-denial
        
        First noble truth - Life is filled suffering and sorrow
        
        Question - Why is the eightfold path called the middle way?
        
        Answer: The eightfold path was like a staircase, for this religion the people wanting to find enlightenment had to go one step at a time to make it to the nirvana stage which is life without suffering. It is the main goal for people following Buddhism.
