Kings, landholders, and priests came first followed by, wealthy merchants. Most of Sumerian people worked in fields and workshops. And the lowest class were slaves: some war captives and other slaves since birth.
Sumerian women had more rights than many later civilizations: they could work as merchants farmers and artisans. Women could learn reading and writing as well, but few women became scribes.

What was the Government like?
Home to the world's first Empire, For 2 centuries, the Akkadian Empire was created by a conqueror named Sargon of Akkad. Being a civilization many were jealous of, most of Mesopotamia's life was spent under war and different empires.
The first emperors in Mesopotamia were temple priests. Religion and Government were often intertwined, like places of worship also doubling as town centers. Though time of war demanded more than just priests. Slowly, army commanders were given full control of the people.
Who controlled the people?
Many emperors had their own code of law, like the last Emperor of The Babylonian Empire: Hammurabi. Hammurabi believed a single code of law for the people would unite his empire. This code of law was spread in the very crevices of Hammurabi's Mesopotamia
Economy (Miranda)
They traded grain, cloth, and crafted tools and in exchange, they got metal, wood, and stone, they traded because they had limited natural resources, like building materials and other necessities, because of their limited resources like water.
Kunal (Geography)
Mesopotamia was a region between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. It was also located between Syria, Iraq, and Kuwait. The climate in Mesopotamia had many advantages and disadvantages. The climate of Mesopotamia allowed for healthy soil, although unpredictable flooding and no rain caused Mesopotamia's landscape to become like a desert. The rivers were used for irrigation, making Mesopotamia a very fertile and biodiverse location. This affected the people living there by giving them opportunities to trade, allowing Mesopotamia to become the forefront of civilization.
Achievements (Kunal)
The people of Mesopotamia invented the base 60 system, the 360 degree circle and the 7 day week. Mesopotamians are also credited with founding the first legal code. These inventions are significant because they are still used today in our society. The base 60 system and the 360 degree circle served as the foundation of math, and are taught in modern schools. The 7 day week is used in our modern calendar, and many peoples' morals are based on Hammurabi's code. With all these examples, it's clear that Mesopotamia served as the foundation for our society today.
Religon (Hayyan)
The people of Mesopotamia polytheism also known as believed in multiple gods . The sumeirian people beleived that they had various gods that controlled the forces of nature,and that they were almigty powerfull immortal beings and that the humans were nothing but servents to them and they would get scared that if they didnt believe in the gods then they would unleash floods sending fire and destroying cities. So they believed they had to keep the gods happy so the sumerians would build impressive ziggurat temples and they would offer them food, wine, and rich sacrafices. The sumerians would work very hard for the gods protection in their lifetime. But also they would expect help from the gods after death. (Textbook page32)
