What were the social classes and their roles in this civilization?
People were ranked according by their job:
Priests/Nobles
-Priests practiced necessary religious observances made sacrifices and kept calendars.
-Nobles rarely used their hands and were included in administration and the city bureaucracy
Wealthy Merchants
-Merchants sell or buy large quantities of goods
Artisans
-They make useful items for everyday use like pots, clothing, weapons, and boats.
Peasants/Farmers
-Peasants were poor farmers who works the land
-Farmers produced supplies of food and crops
Slaves
-Worked in irrigation projects, temples and palaces
Economy
Mesopotamia created cuneiform in order to trade efficiently with people who didn't speak the same languages. They grew and traded wheat and barley. They would trade for resources that they couldn't get like building materials and other natural resources.

What was the government like?
The Government in Mesopotamia was a hierarchy. It was a government was a government that taxed the people but provided protections and made choices for the better of the city state.
Who controlled the people?
The king was the person who controlled the people. He had the power to change the law and increase tax whenever he pleased. The priest could also control people because the priest was the way people access god and so the priest could say god demands something then the people will do that something.

How did it affect the people living there?
The flooding often flooded poor peoples homes which were built on lower ground closer to the river, but the flooding provided good farming ground after the floods. The rivers also helped with irrigation systems because there was usually a constant supply of water going through them unless there was a drought.
Where was Mesopotamia Located?
Mesopotamia was located in modern day Iraq, Syria, and Kuwait. It was located inbetween the Tigris and Euphrates rivers.
What were the advantages and disadvantages of the geography?
The problem with being trapped between two rivers was that once a year the rivers would flood, however that made the fields really good for farming when the floods receded. Sumerian villages were very defenseless because they had no natural barriers. The biggest problem was that there were small amounts of resources like building materials.

Why were they significant?
These achievements are significant because they are used today in our modern world. The base 60 system is used to tell time and it's also used in geometry. Cuneiform (the first written language) paved the way to create of other languages. Their architectural inventions have shaped modern cities and buildings. Lastly, the creation of the wheel is one of their most important inventions. Wheels are all around us and we need them for transportation and everyday life.
What are the lasting achievements and/or contributions of this civilization?
Mesopotamia created many life-changing achievements. Some examples of their achievements are the base 60 system, the wheel, Cuneiform, and architectural inventions.

What were the beliefs and how did they affect the people living there?
In Mesopotamia, they believed in multiple gods. This affected how they lived because if there were a drought they would pray to the water god. Another way is if they were in dept they would pray to god to get good luck. They also built big temples to honour their gods.
