Examples of AFL
Assessment for learning (AFL) is an approach to teaching and learning that creates feedback which is then used to improve students’ performance. Students become more involved in the learning process and from this gain confidence in what they are expected to learn and to what standard. (Cambridge Assessment International Education, n.d.)
The information created through AFL notifies both learners and teachers where students are in their learning. This can then aid the teacher is modifying their teaching approach. (Hawthorne, 2022)
AFL can therefore be used on a regular basis to guide the learning process – to assess, to inform teaching, and to provide impactful feedback. (Hawthorne, 2022)

What is AOL and why is it used?
“Assessment of Learning is the assessment that becomes "public" and results in statements or symbols about how well students are learning. It often contributes to pivotal decisions that will affect students’ futures. It is important, then, that the underlying logic and measurement of assessment of learning be credible and defensible.”
AOL is used in order to see the knowledge that the students have acquired. It is a way to see what the students can do.
