Energy Sources (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jo_IRDLLSNU
)
There hay different types of energy sources : :
Wind
Solar
Tidal
Coal
Hydroelectric
Oil
Gas
Muscle Power
Biomass
Fission
Nuclear Fusion
Geothermal
Most of energy sources come fron the sun
For example Photosynthesis uses energy from the sunlight to help plants build up biomass and put oxygen into the atmosphere
Most of replenishable energy sources use energy directly or indirectly from the sun
Eating and respiring food
Burning harvested biomass
Wave Power: Caused by the heating effect of the sun and waves on the sea. Using machines this energy can be transferred by an electric current to be used in our homes.
Hydroelectricity: It is generated by the evaporation of water and falls as rain in the mountains. The water is stored in dams and goes down to a turbine generator which generates electricity that we use in our homes.
Solar Panels: We can take advantage of the sun's energy with photovoltaic panels to heat the water in our homes.
Wind Turbine: We can transfer kinetic energy with these turbines and use them in our homes.
Some energy sources are not derived from the daily input of energy from the sun
Geothermal Power: Deep in the earth there are very hot rocks and we can use this thermal energy to generate steam in a power station that transforms it into energy to use in our homes.
Tidal Power: Tides are caused by the gravitational pull of the moon. This generates the occurrence of high tides which are stored in dams that have a turbine inside that transforms it into electrical energy.
Nuclear Power
Some energy resources are more reliable than others
