Due to this, the Greeks adapted to the environment. The grew relatively small animals that do not need a lot of space to graze.
They got wool and hides from the goats and the sheep. They did not eat much meat, but when they did, the preferred pork.
The farmers planted crops that could thrive in that type of environment such as barley, wheat, olives, and grapes.
They ground the wheat and barley into flour which they made into bread and cake. They sweetened it with honney.
They ate olives and crushed them to make olive oil which they use for cooking, lamp fuel, bathing, and perfumes.
