COMPONENTS OF THE COMPUTER SYSTEMS AND STORAGE DEVICES
STORAGE DEVICES
Hard Disk Drive
The Hard Disk Drive is a magnetic disk used to store computer data. It uses magnetic storage to store and retrieve digital data using one or more rigid, rapidly rotating platters coated with magnetic material. Data is stored by magnetizing or demagnetizing the magnetic coating. A magnetic reader arm is used to read data from and write data to the disks. A typical modern HDD has a capacity in terabytes (TB).
Advantages & Disadvantages
It's cheap and has good capacities
It has a slower than any form of any flash drives, noisy, and get damaged easily
DVD Drive
DVD stands for Digital Video Display. DVD Drive is optical devices that can store 15 times the data held by CDs. They are usually used to store rich multimedia files that need high storage capacity. DVDs also come in three varied only, recordable and rewritable.
Advantages & Disadvantages
It has a very large storage capacity, available in every store, high data stability, can read CDs, cheap price, and it is portable.
It doesn't work in CD ROM drives, not easy to change the data, it doesn't fully support HDTV, and poorly compressed audio or video may be like fuzzy, harsh or vague and blocky.
Blu Ray Disk
This is a digital optical disc storage format. It is designed to supersede the DVD format, and capable of storing several hours of high-definition video, data, information, and other multimedia files. Blu Ray Disk has a shorter wavelength laser as compared to CD/DVD. This enables the writing arm to focus more tightly on the disk and hence pack in more data.
Advantages & Disadvantages
It stores a huge amount of data and information. They are considered to be the best secondary storage device
The cost of Blu Ray Disk are quite expensive and it gets unreadable once it get scratches
COMPONENTS OF THE COMPUTER SYSTEMS
Mouse
It is one of the most popular hand-held pointing device that detects motion to a surface. This motion is translated into the motion of a pointer on a display, which allows smooth control of the graphical user interface of a computer.
In general, it has two buttons: the left and right buttons and a wheel between them. The mouse movements can control the cursor's position on the screen, but they cannot be used to enter text.
Advantages & Disadvantages
Convenient and easy to use
It only works on flat smooth surfaces
Keyboard
It is the most common popular input device and a piece of computer hardware that is used to input data, text, characters, and other commands into a computer. There are some additional keys for performing additional functions on the keyboard, similar to the layout of a traditional typewriter.
Advantages & Disadvantages
Easy to use and improves your skills in typing
Its very expensive but excellent quality
Bar Code Reader
It is an input device of a computer system that is used for reading standardized identifications and bar coded data (dim lines with alphanumeric values that differ in width and height). Bar coded data is used in labelling goods, numbering books, etc. It may be a handheld scanner or may be embedded in a stationary scanner.
The bar code reader scans a bar code image and converts it into an alphanumeric value, which is then sent to the computer that the reader is connected to.
Advantages & Disadvantages
It is the most flexible, powerful, and advanced tool available to supermarket owners. It saves our time by scanning it than typing it one by one
Once the barcode has been damaged, The bar code reader may pose problems while scanning
