This sensitivity to everything can heighten an artist’s creativity and in some cases could even crush it. It all depends on what affects the experience has on them. Also, the ability to put yourself in someone else’s shoes can greatly increase your chances of creating art that speaks to your audience.

PSYCHOLOGY
PSYCHOLOGIST
QUALITIES OF BEING A PSYCHOLOGIST
Communication Skills
Naturally, a psychologist needs to be able to communicate effectively, considering the complexity of the subject matter. Though the patient is the one who will be doing most of the talking, the patient is not expected to be clear and concise. After all, a lack of clarity might be the reason they are seeking the services of a psychologist or counsellor in the first place.
Organization
When it comes to transcribing and analyzing research data, which can be very heavy in specific cases, you will need to understand how to be organized. There will be a lot of information that will be thrown your way, from new research studies to the data of your clients. Having a way to organize everything will ease this potential burden. This is also essential for doing your job efficiently.
Analytical skills
Psychologists must be able to examine the information they collect and draw logical conclusions from them.
Boundary-setting
Psychologists need the ability to build and maintain healthy boundaries with patients. They must establish that the relationship is strictly professional and exists only within the bounds of treatment. Sessions may be emotionally intense, but boundaries allow psychologists to keep themselves removed and not let those emotions affect them personally.
Problem-Solving Ability
Although tempting, psychologists resist the urge to give advice. Instead, they patiently wait for the client to open up, identify problems and express reasons for dissatisfaction with life’s circumstances. Motivation is evoked by pointing out discrepancies between the client’s goals and misaligned behavior. Goals are discussed and a treatment plan developed outlining next steps in therapy
Listening Skills
Listening, particularly active listening, is extremely important, especially when it comes to counseling and coming up with therapeutic interventions to help clients in your care. Any information that comes from a client is pertinent to finding a way to improve their condition..
CHARACTERISTICS
Trustworthiness
Clients intuit whether a psychologist is trustworthy. Psychologists show they can be trusted by emphasizing confidentiality. Psychologists reassure clients that are free to share thoughts and feelings without judgement. Feedback to clients is constructive and supportive.
Empathy
Psychologists exude empathy and genuine concern. They notice nuances in voice tone and body language. Skills such as active listening and reflection encourage clients to share repressed thoughts, feelings and beliefs. They manage their own reactions and feelings when working with incarcerated clients, such as sex offenders, in an attempt to understand them and bring about change.
Patience
Psychologists are realists who recognize that long standing, maladaptive behaviors cannot be unlearned quickly. Instead of telling the client what to change and how to change it, they patiently guide the client in the process of self-discovery. They accept that progress is nonlinear and setbacks are common. Angry or resistant clients are not forced or manipulated into changing before they are ready to do so.
Solid Ethical Core
Ethical psychologists internalize the standards set by their state licensing board of psychology and the ethical code of the American Psychological Association. They demonstrate openness, honesty and transparency. Everything from counseling clients to writing case notes to insurance billing is above reproach. Behaviors of ethical psychologists are congruent with their professed attitudes and values.
