Public
relationships that are public tend to have more people that are nosy and talked about on your own behalf if you're the one in the relationship
when there is a change more people will get nosy and ask questions of what happened when it's not their business
Private
it's mainly you and your lover and maybe a few friends
less opinions more freedom
won't get many questions about it
feel comfortable that no one else needs to put out their opinion into your life
