Symptoms
Speech
their speech may be slurred or garbled, or the person may not be able to talk at all despite appearing to be awake; they may also have problems understanding what you're saying to them.
Face
the face may have dropped on 1 side, the person may not be able to smile, or their mouth or eye may have drooped.
Arms
the person may not be able to lift both arms and keep them there because of weakness or numbness in 1 arm.
Other Symptoms
Other symptoms include: "complete paralysis of 1 side of the body sudden loss or blurring of vision dizziness confusion difficulty understanding what others are saying problems with balance and co-ordination difficulty swallowing (dysphagia) a sudden and very severe headache resulting in a blinding pain unlike anything experienced before loss of consciousness."
Treatment
ischaemic strokes, haemorrhagic strokes
Thrombectomy
Removes blood clots and helps restore blood flow to the brain, most effective when started as soon as possible after a stroke. Only effective at treating ischaemic strokes caused by a blood clot in a large artery in the brain
Thrombolysis
Treated through injections of a medicine called alteplase. Alteplase dissolves blood clots and restores flow to the brain. Most effective if start as soon as possible after the stroke occurs - Not beneficial after 4.5h after the stroke. Brain scan must be conducted before use of this medicie as it can make the bleeding that occurs worse.

Blood pressure medicines
If your blood pressure is too high, you may be offered medicines to lower it.
Anticoagulants
Anticoagulants prevent blood clots by changing the chemical composition of the blood in a way that prevents clots from forming.
Statins
If the level of cholesterol in your blood is too high, you'll be advised to take a medicine known as a statin. Statins reduce the level of cholesterol in your blood by blocking a chemical (enzyme) in the liver that produces cholesterol

- People sometimes need to stay with a caretaker or someone to guide them always.
