Trichomoniasis Vaginitis
It is an infection caused by Trichomonas vaginalis.
Clinical manifestations
Pruritus
Frothy greenish or gray discharge
Hemorrhagic spots on cervix and vaginal walls
Drug therapy
Antibiotics Metronidazole (Flagyl)
Pathophysiology
It's caused by Trichomonas vaginalis
It's is sexually transmited
Characterised by discharge that is yellowish-green malodorous.
Acompanied by vulvitis.
Nursing intervention
Nursing diagnosis
Risk of cervical cancer may be related to inflammation of the vagina as evidenced by hemorrhagic spots on cervix and vaginal walls.
Nursing management
Administration of antibiotics as prescribed (Metrodazole) 400mg bid
Encourage comfort by controlling pain from genital lesions.
Reduce the risk of spread of infection
Reduce anxiety related to knowledge deficit, by giving relevant health education about the disease.
Encourage personal hygiene and self care.

It is sexually transmited
Caused by protozoa Trichomonas vaginalis
Pathophysiology
The inflammation is caused by distraction of natural defenses of acid vaginal secretion.
Disturbed levels of lactobacillus of the vagina.
