Vectors and scalars
Vector additions
The addition of vectors can be done if they all have the same units, although the magnitude, direction and sense may vary. It can be performed by 2 different methods
Polygon method
Consists on drawing each one of the vectors one after the other, so that th resultance of these is determined by another vector whose origin coincides with the beginning of the first vector and the arrowhead with the end of the other
Parallelogram method
It consists of drawing each of the vectors strating from the origin. Where one vector ends, a line is drawn parallel to the other vector. The resultant is the vector that starts from the origin and ends at the intersection of the parallels of each vector.

Components of a vector
A vector can be decomposed in 2 vectors that will be directed in both coordinate axes. These are the Rectangular components of the vectors

The components of a vector can be positive or negative, depending on the quadrant in which they are located
