Acute paronychia it is the infection around the nail bed, caused by Staphylococcus.

It can occur due through injury, trauma in paronychia fold.
It can occur due to thumb sucking, manicuring or hangnail.
Chronic paronychia fungal infection of the nail fold, cause by candida albicans.

affect people who works with water and chemical irritants such as house keepers, gardeners, and washers.
risk factors includes diabetic, steroids takers, people who are on ART. (Judith Marcin, 2018)
SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
on acute infection, nail fold is red, tender and swollen. show development of pus.
on chronic nail fold is swollen, tender reddish and no abscess.(Judith Marcin, 2018)
