Definition

Pre-operative care

Starve patient for at least 6 hours

Indications
Suspected malignant or pre-malignent condition
Menorrhagia
Abnormal uterine bleeding
Irregular bleeding
Retained material in endometrial cavity
Post-operative care
Retain from using tampons and sexual intercourse
Ensure completion of antibiotics
Tell patient to expect cramping and abdominal discomfort
Encourage use of sanitory napkins(pads) at this time
Administer analgesia as prescribed by doctor
