900 staff took part regularly. all voices heard. ownership of the strategy. timely feedback and connection/engagement
How they did it
Chose a "character" or leader for a themed conversation. Staff and students then jump in and post discussions.

Expanded uses: Staff awards, research plan development, COVID Safe plan feedback, future ways of working surveys, gender equity plan feedback, the meaning of protecting country, towards carbon zero.

Learned:
- never go back to the old way of planning
- maintaining responsive and trusted communication is paramount
- Egalitarianism of this process has informed structure and organisation design
- Digital enablement - other parts of the Uni seeking to use
- Technology as funamentally relational - have to get it right from day one

Challenges
fatigue: screen fatigue, and creating opportunities to re-inspire but it's challenging with the fatigue.

Immediate shift - safety, access, training, having the tools available at short notice
Creating a level of community for our students - "the university feel". Sense of belonging and connectedness.
Now - blended world and harnessing the convenience of online vs the practicality of connectedness of in person learning

Digital literacy
Assumptions that students are digitally fluent - not realistic. They are fluent in some things. We need to define what digital literacy looks like

Critical literacy - ethics, access etc.
Adobe creative campus - using as an enabler across Higher Ed, VET, Internationally. How to empower teachers across all disciplines to be makers/content creators - not just for the designers/traditionally creative disciplines
Students to find their voice and communicate it - e.g. Lecture might not always be the best way to deliver a message/lesson.
Taking risks in learning - 5 month CoP of teachers - outcome of the program is to create a sharable open source resource that can be used globally. 115 staff through this program in the pandemic and published in the Adobe education exchange. VC award for innovation - supports risk taking in Uni sector
Supporting students
Inclusivity - digital accesibility. Tools and systems need to be available, useable,
Connected system - tools that connect into one program of education rather than a bunch of tools mashed together.
