Constructivist approach: Perspective that emphasizes the active role of the learner in the construction of understanding
and in making sense of the information.
Expository teaching: Method designed by Ausubel, where teachers present the material in a complete and organized way, from the most general concepts to the most specific.
Meaningful verbal learning: Focused and organized relationships between ideas and verbal information.
Deductive reasoning: Mental process that involves drawing conclusions by applying rules or principles; allows to move, in a logical way, from a rule or a general principle to a specific solution
Advanced Organizer: Assertion of inclusive concepts to introduce and summarize the material that follows.
Prepared Cooperation: Learning strategy where two students take turns summarizing the material and judging the summaries.

Differentiated Instruction: A flexible method of teaching that adjusts content, process, and product based on student differences in preparation, interests, and learning needs.
In-Group Ability Level Grouping: A grouping system where students in a class are divided into two or three subgroups based on their ability, in an attempt to sort out differences among students.

Physiological needs: food, sleep, shelter...
Need for physical and psychological security: the need to have an orderly livelihood, free from dangers and physical and/or psychological threats.
Need for belonging and love: need to feel part of a social group, such as family, school, peers... and to receive affection from them.
Need for self-esteem: need to value oneself positively, approved, recognized and accepted by others.
Need for intellectual achievement: need to know and understand their environment, to learn new things and increase their knowledge.
Need for aesthetic appreciation: search for order, personal beauty and the environment.
For cognitive theorists, motivation arises from the internal thoughts that the individual has in a certain situation and, ultimately, from the way in which he processes information.
