Definition
Operation where the affected part of the vulva is excised
Preoperative care
Give antibiotics and heparin as prescribed
Postoperative care
Give prophylaxis against infection, deep vein thrombosis
Elastic stockings should be worn to reduce risk of deep vein thrombosis
Nursing management
Administer medication as prescribed
A sit bath and vulval swabbing is recommended
Promote comfort and keep the lesion clean
Give appetizing and nutritious diet to promote tissue repair
Manage pain so that the patient should be free all times
Health education
Inform the patient about pathophysiology of the condition
Encourage personal hygiene
Assist to finding coping machanism to reduce stress
Medical intervention for vulvactomy
The entire vulva is removed
Tissues under the skin are removed
