Antibiotics to prevent infection

Anticoagulants to prevent the clotting of blood

Monitoring of vital signs

Encourage the patient to verbalize her concerns regarding the surgery

Reassure the patient that the pain will be controlled

Starve the patient prior to the surgery

Patient must stop any herbal supplements prior to surgery

Hold the Ace inhibitors for 24 hours before surgery
